Introduction

Hiya! I'm Kelly Paradise, a 20 year old writer in the Pacific Northwest. Being a huge nerd, I absorb all kinds of media, but some of my favorite topics are animation (I studied it for a few years), the internet (Yes, I've been known to fall into the habit of mindlessly refreshing Tumblr when I could read my Bible. Pray for me on that.) and science fiction (robots are awesome.) I also run another blog called Tea Robot (currently on hiatus, but coming back soon.)

But you didn't come hear to listen to me plug another blog. Let's talk about the one currently taking up your browser window, smartphone, or tablet screen. Jesus Geek!!! is a blog where media, faith and the occasional zombie apocalypse collide.

Any questions?

Wait, don't we already have plenty of media review blogs?

For starters, this won't just be a media review blog. News, features, and other awesome, geeky things will also be posted. I don't want this blog to be a place you just check before buying a game because you feel obligated; I want this to be a place you like to check because it's fun and awesome.

But to get on topic, sure, there are a lot of great websites already out there, but I noticed a gaping hole; all of these websites are targeted specifically at parents. Their reviews focus solely on whether kids can go.
There is no magic age when sin becomes okay. I believe it's important - and can be really fun if you have a bunch of geeks in the room- for Christians of all ages to discuss media. I want this blog to not just be a place for me to ramble about the latest movie I saw, but for everybody to enjoy themselves and bring their thoughts to the comments.

So, how Christian are we talking here? Will this site only look at Christian movies/video games/etc?

While I'm always scouting for quality Christian media (and sadly, you really do have to scout for it these days), this blog will take on both the Christian and the secular. I don't believe that either is automatically better or worse than the other; a parable I'm not even sure the writers intended has often moved me closer to God than an obvious gospel message.

Do you seriously think storytelling is that big a deal?

Yes.

What denomination are you?

I'm non-denominational. The Bible is the Word of God and that is all that matters to me.

Sounds good? What ways can I keep up with this blog?

To the right you will find both an email newsletter feed and an RSS feed. There's also a Tumblr that will posts links to all updates along with bonus cool stuff I run into while perusing the tags.

...Why 3 exclamation points?

Because I'm very excitable. And it balances the text in the logo.
